Buyer Beware: Illegitimate Air Duct Cleaning Companies Are Out There!
Our business, Induct Air Duct Cleaning, is proud to be a full-time, full-service air duct cleaning company serving Philadelphia and South Jersey. We are certified by the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration as well as a member of the National Air Duct Cleaners Association, and we are also accredited by the Better Business Bureau. All of these accreditations are signs that we are a legitimate, thorough air duct cleaning business. If you run into a business advertising online or elsewhere about these services without these accreditations, however, there’s a chance they’re scamming people!
We are sick and tired of seeing and hearing about members of our community getting scammed by dishonest, illegitimate air duct cleaning “businesses” that do nothing more than stir up dust and take a check for their services. Whether you choose to work with us or not, don’t be exploited by scam artists with no real equipment or knowledge of the industry!
Dateline on NBC exposed one of these scammers in 2011 when Chris Hanson featured a company offering air duct cleaning for just $49.99. Given the expensive equipment used in our industry, this price is incredibly low and a sign of an imminent rip-off, but that’s not something that common consumer has knowledge of. Thus, air duct cleaners must uphold their integrity, charge fair prices and never prey on unknowing consumers. But that is far from what happens on the 2011 episode of the Dateline in question.
In the video, you can see the servicemen enter the home, blow some dust around, collect payment and then leave as an elderly woman sits at her kitchen table. Had the cameras not been present, she may have never realized how badly she had been ripped off by these imposters. What’s really wrong here is how these fake technicians target the elderly – the demographic that can benefit the most from clean air indoors!
While this blog might seem like a bit of a rant, it is being written out of our concern and respect for the members of our community who could potentially fall victim to these scams. With Induct Clean, we guarantee that you’ll get what you pay for, which usually includes the complete cleaning of air duct systems used for cooling and heating. Dust, pollen and grime can make your climate control systems work overtime, reducing their efficiency and costing you money on monthly bills.
If you take anything away from this, it should be that, unfortunately, you have to watch out for deals that sound too good to be true and air duct cleaning companies that will take advantage of you. If you’re at all uncertain about a company, you can check with the Better Business Bureau, the NADCA, or just call Induct Clean for guaranteed top-of-the-line air duct cleaning service!
